<br /> City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br /> June 6, 2006 <br /> Page 4 of 16 <br />City Manager Simmons reported the City of Louisville has received the <br />Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for fiscal year 2004. This is the <br />fifteenth year that Louisville has received the award. Louisville has also received <br />the Certificate of Achievement in Financial Reporting Program Award for 2004. <br />For fiscal year 2004, 1,027 entities received the Budget Award nationwide. <br />The Mayor and City Council congratulated Finance Director Leslie and the <br />Finance Department Staff. <br />ORDINANCE No. 1492, SERIES 2006 - AN ORDINANCE REPLEALlNG AND <br />REENACTING CHAPTER 5.12 OF THE LOUISVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE <br />REGARDING CONTRACTOR'S LICENSES - 2nd reading - public hearing <br />(advertised Daily Camera 5/24/06) <br />Mayor Sisk requested a City Attorney introduction. <br />City Attorney Light read Ordinance No. 1492, Series 2006. <br />Mayor Sisk requested a Staff presentation. <br />Chief Building Official Mike Jones explained the Building Safety Division (BSD) <br />and the Building Board of Appeals (BBOA) see a need to improve the knowledge <br />base for General Contractors at all levels. <br />Building Board of Appeal Chairperson Garrett Mundelein explained the BBOA <br />and the BSD believe testing would better serve the community by insuring a <br />higher level of construction knowledge resulting in a better product for the <br />citizens. It will also cut down on the length of time the inspectors spend at each <br />address and on re-inspections. More cities are requiring testing including the <br />cities of Boulder and Denver. <br />Mayor Sisk opened the public hearing and requested public comment. There <br />were no comments. The public hearing was closed. <br />MOTION: Council member Marsella moved for approval of Ordinance No. 1492, <br />Series 2006, seconded by Council member Clabots. <br />City Attorney Light reviewed the Ordinance's second reading amendments to <br />Section 5.12.140 A, B, Section 5.12.150, Section 2, Section 15.56.010 G and <br />Section 3 and 4. He asked those amendments be reflected in the motion. <br />Council members Marsella and Clabots accepted the amendments as reported <br />by the City Attorney. <br />VOTE: Roll call vote was taken. The motion carried by a vote of 7-0. <br />
