The existing City Hall building was constructed
in 1980, and is now 26 years old and in need of remodeling and rehabilitation.
The remodel is an investment in a public building, the citizens' building. The City
has grown and the remodel will bring back the Sales Tax Collection, Information
Technology and Human Resources departments to the City Hall, currently in
leased facilities. This will be a savings of $40,000 annually. The remodel will not
only bring needed maintenance to the building, it will add amenities.
Deputy City Manager Boyd reviewed the revised First Amendment to
Construction Management/General Contractor Agreement between the City of
Louisville and Pinkard Construction Company. The Guaranteed Maximum Price
for construction is established with the amendment, which outlines the basis for
that amount. City Council approved a contract for construction Manager/General
Contractor services with Pinkard Construction Company for renovations for City
Hall. For the 2006 budget year $1.466 million was included for this total project
budget. Project plans were prepared by McMenamin Design Associates (MDA)
and were based on a needs assessment originally completed in 2000 and
updated in 2004 by MDA The original scope of the project included the following
major items:
. Installation of new roof;
. Installation of new system for heating, ventilation and air conditioning;
.
