Parks and Public Landscaping Advisory Board December 4, 2024 Page 5of6 • Economic vitality - medians and McCaslin signage • Could add this as a statement at the top of the work plan: Focused on Sustainability, Fire Hardening, Economic Vitality, EDI through actions targeted at these objectives o PPLAB liked this idea. • GMMP + Long-range plan: continue to support staff requests to advance park operations, look for opportunities to advocate at Council, attend other board meetings • Maintenance: emphasis on maintaining continuing to advance operations, advocating for staff as new parks may enter the system in the out years when budget is tight o Outcome: review data from new work order system, quarterly reporting on maintenance; move last sentence in "PPLAB recommendations" to "Outcomes" • PPLAB bylaws: still need to walk through those, good to review with new members • Outdoor Recreation Amenities: bocce and tennis interest, overlay of existing courts at Centennial in 2026, tennis may require more advocacy to keep in the plan, pickleball inline rink conversion approved in 2025 • Integrated Pest Management and pesticide use for citizens of Louisville; pesticides out of the parks, look at details of how far we've come and what we aren't using and what we have replaced them with, communication about this to the public • Include in education work plan, information on the website, could point the community to this information on the website • Emphasis of what the city does X. Advisory Board New Member welcome packet - discussion • See packet • Add council work plan link • Emphasize attendance requirements - if unable to attend, please contact Chair or Staff Liaison • In -person attendance encouraged but Zoom is available if not able to attend in person • Roster of board members would be useful - including contacts, Ward, etc. • Staff - add in a welcome from Abby and Adam to walk through • Link to the plant list - Abby will also highlight in welcome • Emphasize commitment - even before applying • Meeting governance education - Roberts Rules of Order XI. Board Reports Outdoor Amenities - had some public members of attendance; Abby and Cynthia attended • Subcommittee continues to focus on joint projects • Tennis courts: private tennis advocacy in open space adjacent to Louisville, sent a note to council and emphasize to City of Lafayette to not use public land for private tennis use • Adam is collaborating with counterpart in Lafayette; was supposed to be multi -use fields • Louisville has provided baseball fields, would like to see multiuse for soccer, lacrosse, field hockey • If interested in joining, Cynthia and Shannon are rolling off so will need 1-2 people to join 7
