City,/
Om Louisville
Parks & Recreation
December 20, 2024
To: Parks & Public Landscape Advisory Board (PPLAB)
From: Bryon Weber, PROS Project Manager
Advisory Board Memorandum
Re: Design Updates for Sunflower & Enclave Park Renovations
Enclosed are 95% site and landscape design drawings for renovations at Sunflower and
Enclave Parks. These drawings take into account Board and public input received through the
October 2024 PPLAB meeting and have now been developed into full construction drawing sets
to enable cost estimating to take place.
Current estimates have the projects priced at $674,150 for Enclave and $366,955 for Sunflower.
The combined total of $1,041,105 is slightly over the original funding allocation of $1,000,000
however cost savings from the renovations of Joe Carnival and Meadows Parks will enable us
to cover the $41,105 overage and hold an —9% contingency for potential unexpected costs.
Staff request that PPLAB make a recommendation at the January meeting that the 95%
drawings for both parks be incorporated into a construction contract that can be approved by
Council at either the January 21st or February 4th meetings.
As a reminder of the design and public engagement process to date:
• Summer 2023 — Grant application to Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) for funding
support, including public letters of support for renovations at both parks
• Fall 2023 — Online Public Input Survey
• December 2023 — Community Impact Grant Award from GOCO ($500k)
• January 2024 — Public Open House and presentation of initial designs
• March 2024 — PPLAB Presentation of initial designs and open house feedback
o See Enclosed PDF of presentation with public input results that guided design
• May 2024 — PPLAB Presentation of revised designs at 80% completion level
• July 2024 — PPLAB Presentation of designs at 90% completion level
• October 2024 — PPLAB Presentation of modified concept design for Sunflower Park,
going back to 60% level in response to public input received
• January 2025 — PPLAB Presentation of 95% drawings with pricing
Next steps for these two park designs include:
• January PPLAB — obtain recommendation that 95% designs go to Council for award of
construction contract
• Spring 2025 — construction begins (dates TBD)
Full drawing 95% sets can be downloaded here:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1 UvVeOhgti5Mg5x5VvOTs7t54W6rEU9Wn?usp=sharing
9
