SUSTAINABILITY <br />L <br />SUSTAINABILITY SPOTLIGHT <br />With Spring right around the corner in Louisville, the <br />City's Sustainability staff would like to share a few <br />updates and exciting new programs with the community. <br />Resource Central 2023 Programs <br />Less Lawn, More Savings: Lawn Replacement Program <br />The Lawn Replacement program offers Louisville <br />residents a mix -and -match solution to transform thirsty <br />lawns into beautiful, low-water landscapes, including <br />discounts for Lawn Removal Services provided by <br />Resource Central staff, a free low-water Garden in a Box <br />kit, or both! <br />The program will help residents save water and money, <br />reduce lawn maintenance, and create a colorful <br />pollinator habitat! City of Louisville water customers <br />are eligible for up to $500 off the Lawn Replacement <br />Program. Gardens <br />sell out quickly — visit ResourceCentral.org/Gardens <br />to order a waterwise Garden In A Box starting on Mar. 1! <br />CITY OF LOUISVILLE <br />LouisvilleCO.gov 1 EarthDay <br />Scan the OR code <br />for Earth Day info! <br />Low -Water Landscape Advice: Waterwise Yard Seminars <br />The free, online Waterwise Yard Seminars hosted by <br />Resource Central and partner organizations, including <br />the City of Louisville, are taught by local landscape and <br />horticultural professionals and will connect Louisville <br />residents with experts who'll share tips for an easy <br />transition to low-water landscapes. Residents are able <br />to get their landscaping questions answered and learn <br />how to keep their yard looking great while using less <br />water. Seminar topics range from low-water landscape <br />design, xeric plant selection, smart irrigation, and more. <br />Both novice and advanced gardeners are sure to learn <br />something new. Seminars are held virtually via Zoom. <br />Register now at ResourceCentral.org/Seminars. <br />Spring Events <br />The City of Louisville is hosting the Spring Cleaning <br />Event again this year on Saturday, April 29 from 9 <br />AM to 12 PM in the parking lot of Ascent Church (550 <br />McCaslin Blvd). Louisville residents are invited to attend <br />this event to recycle household hazardous waste, <br />electronic waste, and gas -powered lawn equipment. <br />Residents that recycle gas -powered lawn equipment are <br />eligible for a voucher towards the purchase of electric <br />lawn equipment. This event is by appointment only with <br />limited availability. To reserve a spot, visit LouisvilleCO. <br />gov/SpringCleaning. <br />The City of Louisville is also partnering with the City <br />of Lafayette, Town of Superior, and City and County <br />of Broomfield to host a free, virtual Sustainability Film <br />Series. Four films will be screened from April through <br />July, covering topics such as plastic pollution, climate <br />change, water conservation, and youth activism. After <br />each screening, there will be a post -film discussion <br />featuring a local expert on the topic at hand and <br />moderated by each sponsoring city. Films will be <br />screened virtually on the third Thursday of each month <br />from April through July, from 6:30-8:30 PM.
