ui
OPEN SPACE
Building resiliency with regenerative
grazing and more
As part of the recovery process
following the Marshall Fire, the City
of Louisville Open Space Division is
implementing regenerative grazing
practices on select properties
during the spring and fall of 2023.
The Louisville City Council has
supported cattle grazing on Davidson Mesa Open
Space and goats on North Open Space.
Grazing is an effective way to manage vegetation and
reduce the presence of invasive plant species that can
contribute to wildfires, it can also help reduce fuel loads,
which are the amount of dead and dry vegetation that
can quickly ignite during a wildfire and it can improve
soil health and overall ecosystem function.
OPEN SPACE PROGRAMS & EVENTS
Free Fishing Weekend Booth (All ages)
Sat, June 3 •1-5 p.m.
Join us at Harper Lake Open Space to learn
about fishing regulations, live bait, and how
to tie on hooks and lures during Colorado's
Free Fishing Weekend.
National Trails Day Volunteer Event
(All ages) Sat, June 10 • 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Celebrate National Trails Day by helping
staff repair the trail at Harper Lake Open
Space.
