NEWS FROM CITY HALL
L
A MESSAGE FROM MAYOR MALONEY
I continue to be amazed at
the strength and resiliency the
Louisville community as we
continue to recover from the
Marshall Fire and Straight Line
Wind event. Progress continues
as over 60% of rebuilding permits
have been issued. It's inspiring to
see new homes raised raised almost every day. To those
who have moved back home, I would like to take this
opportunity to welcome you home again! And to those
who are in the process of rebuilding or haven't started
yet, I hope you are able to return soon, as well. Our
community will not be fully recovered until all residents
are back home.
You may be wondering what the City has done to
expedite the rebuilding process. The City has brought
on additional resources and streamlined the permitting
process to issue rebuilding permits as quickly as
possible. This includes additional staff and consultants
to review building plans and conduct inspections. We've
been able to consistently complete plan review for new
homes in 2-3 weeks. These resources have allowed
MAYOR & CITY COUNCIL
Mayor Dennis Maloney
Ward 1
Ward 2
Ward 3
Caleb Dickinson
Chris Leh
Deborah Fahey (Mayor Pro Tern)
Maxine Most
Dietrich Hoefner
Barbara Hamlington
the City to prioritize rebuilds while maintaining building
safety and planning services for other properties.
Staff has also created materials to help homeowners
navigate the permit submittal process for easily and
regularly schedule meetings with staff if needed.
The City is committed to getting residents home as
quickly as possible and supporting and advocating for
everyone in Louisville. I'd like to thank staff for their
continued dedication and the community for their
patience as we navigate recovery.
