RESOLUTION NO. 56
SERIES 1998

A Resolution Approving An Amendment to the
South Sub-Area Comprehensive Plan

WHEREAS, there has been submitted to the Louisville City Council a request to
amend the South Sub-Area Comprehensive Plan; and,

WHEREAS, all materials related to the comprehensive plan amendment have been
reviewed by City staff and found to be in compliance with city ordinances, regulations and
related land use policies and plans; and

WHEREAS, the Planning Commission held a public hearing and found that the
amendment is necessary to address current and foreseeable growth pressures within Louisville
and adjacent communities which warrant the City's regulation of the additional areas and
activities of state interest which may be located in whole or in paJt within the City of
Louisville; and,

WHEREAS, the City Council has acted to designate areas around arterial highway
interchanges as areas of state interest, and to designate the site selection of arterial highways
and interchanges and collector highways as an activity of state interest, pursuant to C.R.S. 24-
65.1~101 et. seq. ("House Bill 1041"); and

WHEREAS, in conjunction with those designations the Council desires to amend the
Comprehensive Plan to reflect the location of existing and proposed highway interchanges that
will be affected by the designation and to further address the designations; and

WHEREAS, the City Council finds that current and foreseeable growth pressures
within Louisville and adjacent communities are considerable, and will likely result in
additional highway and urban development; and

WHEREAS, such development may in turn have a major impact on growth patterns
within the City, including potential adverse impacts on the rural or "small town" character of
the City as well as the impairment of the goals and policies of the City of Louisville; and

WHEREAS, the City Council finds that said amendment should be approved without
condition.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Louisville, Colorado does hereby approve the amendments to the South Sub-Area
Comprehensive Plan which are set forth in Exhibit A, attached hereto and incorporated herein
by reference.
