Cityof ECONOMIC VITALITY COMMITTEE
Louisville
COLORADO • SINCE 1878
SUBJECT: 2025 ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT WEEK
DATE: APRIL 10, 2025
PRESENTED BY: VANESSA ZARATE, CECD, ECONOMIC VITALITY MANAGER
SUMMARY:
Economic Development Week was started in 2016 by the International Economic
Development Council (IEDC), our national professional group to promote and highlight
the professionals that do economic development work in their communities. This year,
Economic Development Week is May 11-17, 2025.
IEDC celebrates Economic Development Week each year to highlight the profession,
programs, best practices and projects that are positively impacting communities.
Economic Development happens in good and bad economies, connecting businesses
to resources that are aimed at positively impacting business operations, systems and
growth. Economic Development weeks aims to raise awareness of local partners,
programs and efforts that create jobs, support career advancement, improve quality of
life and support business operations.
The City of Louisville also works with the Economic Development Council of Colorado
(EDCC) to promote Colorado widely during Economic Development week. To organize
and highlight all our efforts, EDCC often comes up with themes for each of the days for
us to share/highlight how we work together to elevate Economic Development efforts
and support businesses in our community and across the state.
The State has declared May 12-16 Economic Development Week and Louisville Staff is
working with partners such as IEDC, EDCC, Downtown Colorado Inc, the state's office
of Economic Development and International Trade, Colorado's Department of Local
Affairs, Manufacturer's Edge, USDA and EDA to highlight Louisville and our Economic
Development efforts.
Each day, there will be a social media topic for us to engage with our partners and the
larger economic development system. Louisville is working with our Communications
Team to prepare content for Economic Development Week. This content will include
project updates, program highlights, staff engagement and more.
Staff is looking for direction on bringing a potential proclamation to the full City Council,
to declare May 12-16 Economic Development Week
FISCAL IMPACT:
