ORDINANCE NO. 1296, SERIES 1999 - AN ORDINANCE AMENDING <br />ARTICLE IV, SECTION 1 OF ORDINANCE NO. 544, MAY 17, 1977, AS <br />AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 1258, MAY 6, 1977, TO EXTEND AND <br />INCLUDING JUNE 15, 2001 THE ELECTRIC AND GASEOUS FUEL <br />FRANCHISE GRANTED BY THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO, TO <br />PUBLIC SERVICE COMPANY OF COLORADO -public hearing, (published <br />Louisville Times 4/10/99 and 4/17/99) <br /> <br />Davidson called for City Attorney introduction. <br /> <br />Sam Light, City Attorney, read by title only, Ordinance No. 1296, Series 1999 - An <br />Ordinance Amending Article Iv, Section 1 Of Ordinance No. 544, May 17, 1977, As <br />Amended By Ordinance No. 1258, May 6, 1977, To Extend And Including June 15, 2001 <br />The Electric And Gaseous Fuel Franchise Granted By The City Of Louisville, Colorado, <br />To Public Service Company Of Colorado. <br /> <br />Davidson called for staff presentation. <br /> <br />Heather Balser, Assistant to the City Administrator, explained that the City's current two- <br />year extension on the twenty-year agreement granting a gas and electric franchise by the <br />City to Public Service expires June 15, 1999. Ordinance No. 1296 would only amend the <br />term effective date of the current gas and electric franchise, thus providing the present <br />franchise remain in effect up to June 15, 2001. Public Service is in concurrence with the <br />amendment. The extension allows for adequate consideration of any proposed changes to <br />the franchise and allows time for completion of legislative reviews and actions applicable <br />to electric and gas companies, which may affect the franchise. She stated that Public <br />Service representatives are present to answer any questions Council might have. <br /> <br />Davidson opened the public hearing and called for anyone wishing to speak on Ordinance <br />No. 1296. <br /> <br />NONE <br /> <br />Davidson closed the public hearing and called for Council comments and questions. <br /> <br />Lathrop asked that a representative of Public Service come forward to answer questions. <br /> <br />Lyle Sheeter, Public Service Engineering Manager of Boulder Operations, was available <br />to answer questions. <br /> <br />Lathrop asked for a representative of Public Service to address Council at a future <br />meeting to address Public Service's Y2K preparedness. <br /> <br />Sheeter replied, yes. He explained that they have teams in place to address Y2K, and <br />agreed to forward Council's request to the appropriate individual. <br /> <br /> <br />
