Open Space Advisory Board
Minutes
March 12, 2025
-Michiko: suggestion put parentheses to expand the role
- Dark sky
- Andy: Fishing Warembourg Pond - change the wording and move it up to the goals
section and combine with one statement on the list. Ember provided background:
Warembourg Fishing Pond CIP- there was a citizen proposal year ago that staff draft as
a CIP concept. The plan is proposed to address water loss and quality, lining, making
more habitat, considering piers/recreation amenities, and possibly other elements.
Currently the plan is in the budget, first year is design, second year construction.
- Golf course: change the wording to "exploring" and put it in the future ideas
- Wildfire mitigation: communication program is vital with outreach and education
- RTR trails: add it the goals - Review the final plans
Public comment by Tamar Krantz:
- Make sure the policy of biodiversity is expanded: dark sky, rodenticide, and put it with
the comp plan.
10. 8:50 pm Discussion Item: 2025 Tiger Team Assignments (15 Minutes).
Presented by Susan McEachern, OSAB Chair
- Keep the Land Acquisition team
- Grant team: No longer a team, but Andy is on standby to work with Ember as
needed. Will work on CIP when the opportunity comes.
- Trails and Wayfinding teams: On hold till the Trails Plan is finalized.
- Bird City: When it becomes an action item, we will create a tiger team.
- Two tiger teams can work together on related projects; for example, when land
acquisition becomes complex, the other team can join and work on this specific
issue.
11. 9:05 pm Action Item: OSAB Acquisition Plan (20 Minutes). Presented by
Michiko Christiansen & Brad Pugh, OSAB Members (5 Minutes)
- Shared notes regarding near -term and long-term plans.
- There is a weakness in this flowchart/plan, there is no emphasis on reaching out
to the property owners to create a relationship. Being proactive long before the
actual signage is put up for sale. Keeping tabs via brokers who are more aware
of those properties for future land acquisition.
- Encouraged board members to read and feel free to add or make any
suggestions.
- Can revisit after the meeting with the Lafayette OSAB with notes and thoughts.
- Will make changes if necessary.
City of Louisville
Open Space Division 749 Main Street Louisville CO 80027
303.335.4774 (phone) www.LouisvilleCO.gov
