8. 2025 CAB City Council Joint Meeting Discussion (Iris, JR, Sarah) 30 <br />Minutes <br />A. Presentation for city council meeting moved to May 13th at 6pm <br />a. Goal: Meet with the council to let them know our vision for the future <br />b. 45-minute meeting and board members are encouraged to come. <br />i. Highlights from last year (2024): 5 summer concerts, board <br />volunteering hours, highly attended events, pollinator mural, Movie on <br />Main, five art grants for a total of $10,000. Developed new scoring matrix <br />for art grants to include EDI in evaluations, cultural traditions in Louisville. <br />Diversity of the events. <br />ii. Increased efficiency as a volunteer body. <br />iii. Established new cultural traditions in Louisville. <br />iv. Board as advisors has been a great transition. 2023 was not a great year <br />for the board, only had 3 members. <br />v. Economic vitality; Louisville food trucks. Fact: Every 1 dollar in cultural <br />events generates $6 - $10 in community spending. <br />vi. 4 major pillars in the next couple of years: <br />1. Maintain rhythm <br />2. Support public art <br />3. Support the expansion and increase the cohesion of the arts <br />community in Louisville <br />4. Research the possibility of a performing arts center <br />9. Staff Report (Iris) — Report 20 minutes <br />a. Upcoming events and Board volunteers <br />1. World Music event- Friday, April 25th (Yoko) <br />2. Memorial Day weekend- Sunday, May 25th (will need 2 volunteers); Mariachi <br />band <br />3. Block Party; June 8th, 2pm - 5pm- Need all hands on deck with volunteers. Need <br />the board visitors <br />b. Summer CAB Events <br />i. Concerts in the Park <br />ii. Movie on Main - Moana, Finding Nemo, Incredibles, Monsters Ink? <br />iii. Old Time Fiddle Contest - would like to do an old time fiddle concert. It would <br />be the first year we've done this! <br />iv. Dog Days of Summer - Save for next time <br />c. 4th of July <br />i. Suggested Opener <br />
