RESOLUTION No. 40 <br />SERIES 1998 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE BOULDER VALLEY <br />BOARD OF EDUCATION TO MAINTAIN <br />MONARCH AT ITS PRESENT STATUS AS A K-8 SCHOOL <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Boulder Valley Board of Education has been convening meetings <br />within the District for discussion of various alternatives relating to potential bond issues to be <br />presented to the voters for their consideration in 1998; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, one of the areas of discussion has been the conversion of the Monarch K-8 <br />school to be Monarch Middle School, i.e. grades 6-8; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, as an adjunct to the implementation of the Monarch Middle School, the <br />Board is also considering adding additional classrooms to Fireside Elementary School; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, all elementary and middle schools located in Louisville, but most notably <br />Fireside Elementary and Monarch, would be dramatically affected by the implementation of the <br />above proposed plan; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mayor Tom Davidson and the Louisville City Council are strongly opposed <br />to any current plans to convert Monarch and to add additional classrooms to Fireside given the <br />impact it will have on all Louisville elementary and middle school students and their parents; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, by the adoption of this Resolution, the Louisville City Council is not <br />suggesting that other alternatives and additional schools are not needed within the Boulder <br />Valley School District; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of <br />Louisville, Colorado, does hereby adopt this Resolution strongly imploring and requesting the <br />Board of Education for the Boulder Valley School District to maintain Monarch as a K-8 school <br />and to maintain the other elementary and middle schools as they presently exist within the City of <br />Louisville. <br /> <br />ATTESTS,4/ D <br /> <br />AND ADOPTED this 21st day of July, 1998. <br /> <br /> T~ Davidson~yor -- ' <br /> CiW of Louisville, Colorado <br /> <br /> <br />
