Robert Ray, Y2K Program Manager for Public Service Company, gave a presentation on
the current status of Public Service's efforts to prepare for Y2K difficulties. He explained
the preparations and testing that Public Service has performed in preparation for Y2K. He
was then available to answer questions.

Howard arrived.

Mayer questioned whether Public Service has conducted tests on any of their programs
that can 'look ahead and look behind.'

Ray replied that they have conducted tests on the dates that have been identified as Y2K
sensitive. He stated that they are aware of the issue and will provide additional staffing on
those critical dates. He explained that, of the three hundred software programs used by
Public Service, they have identified three that required correction.

Mayer stated that communications are the key to relieving the public's concerns.

Ray agreed. He explained that they have produced a short Y2K video that is available to
any customer who asks for it. This video is being promoted through Public Service
billing statements. Public Service is also a member of the Governor's Y2K Task Force,
which has been charged with distributing messages regarding power, gasoline,
transportation, health & hospitals, etc.

Sisk thanked Ray for his presentation. He suggested that Public Service also include their
website address and telephone number through their billing statements for anyone
wishing to obtain Y2K information. He requested a copy of the Y2K video and suggested
that the City run the video on the local channel 16.

Howard explained that he understands the problems, as he conducted Y2K testing and
analysis for several large steel mills a few years ago. He expressed concern for the 'feeder
dates' coming into Public Service from various organizations.

Ray replied that they have located a few bugs in some of their feeder programs and are
currently working toward correcting them.

Howard suggested that several copies of the Y2K video are made available to the public
library. He asked Ray for the date that Public Service anticipates their testing will be
complete.

Ray replied, September.

Howard thanked Ray for his presentation.

Ray agreed to supply several copies of the Y2K video to the public library.

Lathrop requested that Ray provide, in one sentence, as much assurance as he is
comfortable with that Public Service will be online.
