<br /> 52. Storm Water. Any flow occurring during or following <br /> any form of natural precipitation and resulting therefrom. <br /> 53. Total Suspended Solids. The total suspended matter <br /> that floats on the surface of, or is suspended in water, wastewater <br /> or other liquids, and which is removable by laboratory filtering and <br /> referred to as suspended residue in "Standard Methods for the <br /> Examination of Water and Wastewater". <br /> 54. Toxic Pollutant. Any pollutant or combination of <br /> pollutants listed as toxic in regulations promulgated by the <br /> Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency under the <br /> provision of CWA 307(a) or other Acts. <br /> 55. User. Any person who contributes, causes or permits <br /> the contribution of wastewater into City's POTW. <br /> 56. Wastewater or Sewage. The combination of the liquid <br /> and water-carried IndustrTal~(lQmestic wastes from residences, <br /> commercial buildings, industrial facilities, and institutions <br /> including cooling water which is contributed into or permitted to <br /> enter the POTW. <br /> 57. Wastewater Discharge Permit. The permit provided for <br /> in this ordinance. <br /> 58. Abbreviations. The following abbreviations shall have <br /> the designated meanings: <br /> a. BOD - Biochemical Oxygen Demand <br /> b. CFR - Code of Federal Regulations <br /> c. COD - Chemical Oxygen Demand <br /> d. EPA - Environmental Protection Agency <br /> e. FOG - Fats, Oils and Grease <br /> f. mg/l - Milligrams per liter <br /> g. NPDES - National Pollutant Discharge Elimination <br /> System <br /> h. POTW - Publicly Owned Treatment Works <br /> I. SIC - Standard Industrial Classification <br /> ] . SWDA - Solid Waste Disposal Act, 42 U.S.C. 6901, <br /> et seq. <br /> k. TSS - Totar8uspended Solids <br /> l. USC - United States Code <br /> 13.32.030 Sewer Use <br /> A. Connection Retuired. The Owner of every house, <br /> building or structure used or human occupancy, employment, or <br /> recreation, situated within the City is required, at his expense to <br /> install suitable sanitary facilities in accordance with the Uniform <br /> Plumbing Code and to connect such facilities with the POTW or a <br /> treatment plant with a valid NPDES permit in accordance with the <br /> provisions herein within thirty days after the date of official <br /> notice to do so. Any septic tank, cesspool, privy, or similar <br /> private disposal facilities shall, upon such notice, be immediately <br /> emptied and removed from service as determined by the City. No <br /> person shall discharge, or allow to be discharged, any wastewater <br /> except as follows: <br /> (1) By a direct service connection to a city <br /> sewer maIn, if the connection has been <br /> authorized by the City; <br /> ( 2) By transporting in a safe and sanitary <br /> manner to a landfill or other disposal site <br /> approved by public health officials and <br /> capable of accepting the type of wastes <br /> involved; <br /> -6- <br />
