Citvoj
im Louisville
PARKS & RECREATION
ION
MEMORANDUM
To: Open Space Advisory Board
From: Open Space Division
Date: June 11, 2025
Re: Information Item 6: Staff Updates
General:
1. The City of Louisville Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Integrated Weed Management
Plan can be found here: httos://www.louisvilleco.gov/local-
government/government/departments/parks-recreation-and-open-space/integrated-
weed-management-plan
2. Long -Range Plan & Trails Plan update: The consultant contract was awarded by Council
and an internal kick-off and tour is being organized fortune 24`h. Following that
meeting the project work plan will be finalized to identify key dates and milestones for
various engagement events, draft review, etc. As of now, we have a temporary timeline
which charts the process and steps. While the specific months may shift, the overall
sequence of events should remain intact. Staff hopes to report more about 'next steps'
during the July OSAB meeting.
Attachment: is the full proposal most recently submitted to Council, which includes the
process timeline on PDF page 19 (booklet pages 36/37).
3. As various Redtail Ridge construction drawings are submitted to Public Works for
approval, trail components are being reviewed to ensure they align with plans
submitted to Council as part of the Final Plat approval. Per staff review, they are
aligning with one exception that serves as a good reflection of the on -going review
process. In this case, Tract C (the northernmost parcel to be dedicated for City Open
Space) previously contained a trail running east/west that provided an off-street travel
option between two Campus Drive underpasses. That tract is being regraded to remove
an old stock pond, and the developer proposed eliminating that trail section and instead
using the sidewalk of Campus Drive. Staff identified that change as being too far out of
alignment with Council approved plans and directed the design team to reincorporate
the off-street trail into the next plan submittal for further review.
4.
