<br /> ORDINANCE NO. 817 <br /> - <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE PROVISIONS <br /> OF CHAPTER 9.90, SALE OF LOST, <br /> ABANDONED AND CONFISCATED PROPERTY <br /> WHEREAS, the existing provisions of the Louisville <br />Municipal Code dictate that abandoned property shall either escheat <br />to the C.i t Y or shall be sold at a public sale; and, <br /> WHEREAS, it may not be economically feasible to offer all <br />abandoned items for public sale if not claimed. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO. <br /> Section 1 . Section 9.90.030, Chapter 9.90 of the <br /> - <br />Louisville Municipal Code is hereby repealed. <br /> Section 2 . The following section is hereby added to <br /> - <br />Chapter 9.90 of the Louisville Municipal Code: <br /> 9.90.030 Custodian of Property; Notice to Owner <br /> A. The Director of Public Safety shall appoint an employee <br />of the police department to act as custodian of all property seized <br />or taken by police or otherwise deposited to his care and shall <br />provide a suitable location for the safekeeping of such property. <br /> B . If the owner of lost, abandoned, or stolen property is <br />known or becomes known as a result of investigation, the custodian <br />shall give notice to said owner that the property may be reclaimed <br />and if it is not reclaimed within 45 days from the date of the <br />notice, the property will be sold or otherwise disposed of by the <br />Ci t Y . <br /> Section 3 . The following section is hereby added to <br />Chapter 9.90 of the Louisville Municipal Code: <br /> 9.90.110 Return to Finder <br /> If an apparent owner has not made claim to property within <br />sixty days after it has been deposited with the police department, <br />any finder of record shall be notified in writing that the finder has <br />twenty days to claim the property found. If the finder, within said <br />twenty day period, makes a request for the property, the property <br />shall be given to the finder. <br />
