<br /> .. <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 819 <br /> - <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 8 OF THE <br /> LOUISVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE BY PROHIBITING <br /> SMOKING DURING PUBLIC MEETINGS OR <br /> HEARINGS. <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Louisville has <br /> determined that smoking during public meetings is hazardous to the <br /> health and welfare of persons attending said meetings; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the City Counc i I believes the prohibition against <br /> smoking in public meetings will benefit the citizens of the City. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: <br /> Section 1 . The following chapter is added to Title 8 of <br /> - <br /> the Louisville Municipal Code: <br /> 8.52 Smoking Prohibited <br /> 8.52.010 Smoking Prohibited in Public Meetings <br /> No person shall smoke, as defined in this ordinance, in any <br /> room during which time a public meeting, hearing or session of the <br /> Louisville Municipal Cour t is being conducted, including recesses of <br /> such meeting, hearing or municipal court session. This prohibition <br /> shall cover any public meeting or hearing conducted by any duly con- <br /> stituted body, commission, board or agency of the City of Louisville. <br /> During any such public meeting, hearing or municipal court session, <br /> the City shall cause a sign to be posted within any such room in <br /> which said meeting or hearing is being conducted which states smoking <br /> is not allowed. <br /> 8.52.020 Definition <br /> For purposes of this chapter, smoke shall be defined as <br /> follows: <br /> The lighting of any cigarette, cigar, or pipe, or <br /> the possession of any lighted cigarette, cigar, <br /> or pipe. <br /> 8.52.030 Penalty <br /> Any person who violates the terms of this chapter, shall be <br /> guilty of a violation hereof and shall be subject to the penalty as <br /> provided in Section 1.28.010 of this Code. <br />
