Preliminary Internal Review Draft
OUR VISION FOR THE FUTURE
The City of Louisville (the City) Comprehensive Plan's Vision and Core
Values work together to create a framework for future growth for the
City. These were formed from community input about what is most
important for Louisville to enhance and protect.
Vision Statement
The Comprehensive Plan outlines the community's ideas for a shared
future of Louisville, resulting in the following Vision Statement:
The City of Louisville is committed to being an
equitable, resilient, and sustainable community
where everyone has the opportunity to thrive -now
and for future generations. We strive for a vibrant
future where Louisville will evolve and adapt to
change in ways that respect our past and supports
our high quality of life.
The key ideas in the Vision Statement — equitable, resilient,
sustainable and vibrant —are central to this future of Louisville, and are
the center of the Core Values (Figure 4).
Equity is achieved by prioritizing
diverse housing options, accessible
public spaces, and a commitment to
transparent and inclusive leadership
so all residents, regardless of
income, age, or background, have
the opportunity to live, work and
play in Louisville.
Resilience is fostered through
thoughtful land use planning
that integrates environmental
protection, wildfire mitigation,
and sustainable infrastructure,
allowing the community to adapt
to changing conditions and
withstand challenges.
Sustainability is
achieved by promoting
compact, mixed -use
development that
reduces reliance on
personal vehicle trips and
the preservation of open
spaces.
Vibrancy is created by
cultivating active, engaging
places that support local
arts, culture, and community
events while fostering
economic activity through
dynamic mixed -use centers.
4 I Executive Summary LOUISVILLE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
