Lcityof
Louisville
COLORADO • SINCE 1878
Memorandum
To: City Council
From: Hannah Miller, Sustainability Manager
Logan Johnson, Sustainability Specialist
CC: Diana Langley, City Manager
Samma Fox, Deputy City Manager
Date: July 15, 2025
Re: Sustainability Update
This memo provides an overview of the work completed by the Sustainability Division ("the Division") in
2024, and early 2025, and highlights how the Division's efforts align with and support Council -adopted
initiatives, such as Resolution 18-2024. This resolution establishes formally adopted, science -based
climate action goals, including:
• A 60% reduction in community -wide greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 (based on a 2016
baseline)
• Achieving carbon neutrality by 2050
These goals serve as the overarching framework guiding the Division's work plans. In addition to the
above climate action targets, the Division aligns its work with the following plans and strategies:
• The Internal Decarbonization Plan, adopted in October 2023
• The Sustainability Action Plan, adopted in June 2020
• The Community Decarbonization Plan
• The City Council Work Plan and Strategic Priorities
• The Comprehensive Plan
The year 2024 was both productive and transitional for the Division. The team celebrated meaningful
progress while also navigating staffing changes, including the addition of a new Sustainability Specialist
to the Louisville team.
Continuing in 2025, the Division is excited about incorporating a sustainability lens at the policy level
and supporting several new initiatives led by both internal and external partners.
If there are any questions about this memo or if further details about the Division's work are desired,
please contact Deputy City Manager Samma Fox.
The Sustainability Division sincerely thanks City Council for its continued support of sustainability
programming and initiatives.
1 of 13
JULY 2025
5
