Activities are slated for Hecla Lake, Davidson Mesa, Keith Helart Park and <br />Community Park/Coal Creek Trail, and other locations on Louisville Open Space <br />properties. The week ends with an open house at the Rec center, Friday, June <br />13, from 10AM to 1PM. <br />RAB: No comment <br />10. Staff Report <br />See details included in Parks Division Monthly Report in Meeting Packet. <br />Highlights include: <br />• Planting and installation of hanging baskets and corner pots on Main <br />Street, Completion of Transformative Landscape Change Challenge at the <br />arboretum, with installation of 270 plants provided by Resource Central and the <br />Colorado Water Conservation Board with Sunlit Fiesta and Color Pop preplanned <br />gardens and installation of Bermuda Grass Demonstration turf. <br />• Pollinator -focused plants at the arboretum include Golden Currant shrubs, <br />and Catmint (Nepeta), Purple Cone Fower (Echinacea), Black-eyed Susan <br />(Rudbeckia), Butterfly weed (Asclepias tuberosa) and Blanket Flower (Gaillardia) <br />perennials. <br />• Planting of annuals throughout Parks landscape beds. <br />• Support of general parks maintenance, shelter permits, and special events, <br />weekly mowing and trimming, preparation of athletic fields for tournament and <br />permitted play <br />• Forestry planted 25 trees in collaboration with Tree Foundation, PLAY <br />Boulder, and Boulder Youth Corp tree planting in three locations: Washington Ave., <br />S Boulder Rd., and Cleo Mudrock Park. <br />• Park renovations at Sunflower and Enclave parks are on schedule. Trees <br />have been planted and sod installed. Ribbon cutting planned for both parks. <br />• Irrigation improvements - controllers purchased and 22 of 26 have been <br />installed. <br />• Contacts in progress with Cornerstone regarding the recent email sent to <br />PPLAB members. Staff are already planning on entryway improvements. <br />• Looking into median landscaping seed mix, seeking some shorter growing <br />plants. <br />• Parks staff has repurposed an older electric mower, added larger rear <br />wheels and swapped original rear wheels for smaller front wheels to allow for better <br />cutting of typically taller growing median seed mix. <br />• Long range Parks and Trails Master Plan moving forward. Expect June <br />kickoff with consultants and staff to establish timelines and project planning, efforts <br />to be tied to the city Comp Plan, still in progress.
