<br /> RESOLUTION NO. 11 <br /> Seri.es 1984 <br />A RESOLUTION OPPOSING THE PASSAGE OF SENATE BILL 194. <br />WHEREAS, the Colorado State Legislature is currently con- <br />sidering the passage of Senate Bill 194 which would limit citizen <br />referrendums and initiatives concerning zoning matters; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Louisville be- <br />lieves such bill would greatly harm the public's constitutional right <br />to refer measures to the electorate; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Louisville City Council believes that the <br />American concept of democracy is distinct from other forms of <br />government in that it places the rights of people over governmental <br />efficiency; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Louisville City Council believes that all <br />political power is vested in and derived from the people; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Louisville City founcil believes that the <br />passage of Senate Bill 194 would not be in the best interests of the <br />citizens of the City of Louisville or the State of Colorado. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO, does hereby oppose passage of Senate <br />Bill 194 and urges the defeat of said measure in the Colorado Legislature. <br />Passed and adopted this 6th day of March, 1984. <br /> ~4 a/~40, <br /> Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />Cb ~ 7Y(~d~~ <br />City Cler <br />
