City Council Economic Vitality Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />July 24, 2025 <br />Page 5of5 <br />not the current proposal, but recommended that Council include that in their policy <br />discussion. <br />BUSINESS BEAT UPDATE <br />Manager Zarate gave an overview of the July Business Beat meeting and asked for <br />Committee feedback. She noted that the brokers and commercial property owners <br />requested that a similar meeting be held for that same group every year. <br />Councilmember Kern noted that there were several issues that were brought up during <br />the meeting, and hoped that there could be a way to engage around those issues in <br />future meetings. <br />Councilmember Fahey and Councilmember Kern both agreed that the EVC needs to be <br />proactive and take action on some of the items brought to their attention in order to <br />encourage the business community to continue attending these events. <br />Mayor Leh noted that both affordable housing and the South Street Underpass were big <br />items of discussion.
