The purpose of this review <br />is to preview the 2024 I -Codes and potential local amendments to the codes, and to provide <br />direction on key policy questions. A final draft version of the code will then be presented to <br />City Council for adoption later in 2025. The following are the code versions being <br />considered: <br />• 2024 International Building Code <br />• 2024 International Residential Code <br />• 2024 International Mechanical Code <br />• 2024 International Fuel Gas Gode <br />• 2024 International Plumbing Code <br />• 2024 International Fire Code <br />• 2024 International Energy Conservation Code <br />• 2024 International Property Maintenance Code <br />• 2024 International Existing Building Code <br />• 2024 International Swimming Pool and Spa Code <br />• 1997 Uniform Housing Code (adds to the City's authority if needed to abate <br />dangerous buildings). <br />The City would adopt each of these codes by reference and specify any desired <br />amendments to these codes within the Municipal Code, Title 15, Building and Construction. <br />Staff have worked with the Building Code Board of Appeals (BCBOA), which serves as the <br />designated advisory board to City Council on building code adoptions, to develop initial <br />drafts that outline potential amendments: <br />• Attachment No. 1: Draft ordinance adopting all codes except the International Energy <br />Conservation Code, with amendments. <br />• Attachment No. 2: Draft ordinance adopting the International Energy Conservation <br />Code, with amendments. <br />Staff anticipates combining the two drafts for final adoption. <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION <br />2 <br />
