Summer community meetings
It's time for another round of ward meetings, as well as a
citywide Mayor's Community Meeting! These meetings are a
great way to stay connected with important issues and make
sure your questions and concerns are heard. Dates and times
can sometimes change, so for the latest info, or to check
which ward you're in, visit LouisvilleCO.gov/WardMeetings.
2025 SUMMER WARD MEETINGS
Ward 1 Meeting
Thursday, July 31 • 6-7 p.m.
Louisville Public Library
Ward 2 Meeting
Wednesday, July 9 • 6-7 p.m.
Louisville Recreation & Senior Center
Ward 3 Meeting
Thursday, July 24 • 6-7 p.m.
Louisville Recreation & Senior Center
Mayor's Community Meeting
Thursday, August 7 • 6-7 p.m.
Louisville Recreation & Senior Center
Hazel the Cat wins pet mayor election
The cat is officially out of the bag: Hazel the Cat has been
sworn in as Louisville's new Pet Mayor. Thank you to all who
participated in this year's Pet Mayor election, including the
more than 1,000 people who voted! The com-pet-ition was
fierce, and while every candidate was paw-sitively amazing,
there's only room for one cat at the top of the tree.
A big thank you to the Youth Advisory Board for leading this
fun and engaging initiative, and to outgoing Pet Mayors Arlo
and Hops for their service over the past two years. Look for
Pet Mayor Hazel at the annual Pet Parade on Labor Day, and
stay tuned for more updates!
Community Development updates
There's a lot going on in every corner of Louisville!
REDTAIL RIDGE
Grading is underway at the Redtail Ridge property. After
receiving city approval in March, erosion control and grading
began in late March and will continue into early 2026. Utility
work could start later this year, and plans are progressing for
the first development phases — including coordination with
AdventHealth on the new hospital campus.
COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
The Community Development Department has been busy
shaping the draft Comprehensive Plan document and is
gearing up for a mid -summer rollout. The community and city
leaders will help fine-tune it and the public will have further
opportunities for input before targeted adoption this fall.
VISIT OUR WEBSITE FOR MORE!
As you look around at the many projects around town, you
may be asking yourself, "What are they up to?" For info
on current development projects, visit LouisvilleCO.gov/
Development. For updates about City projects, including
roadwork, drainage projects, park improvements, and
more, visit LouisvilleCO.gov/ConeZone. You can also visit
LouisvilleCO.gov/StayConnected to sign up for City emails,
including our "Construction, Closure & Traffic Impacts" topic.
New Fire Hardening Code
Vents
Eavc
Attached
Fence
Roof
Gutters
Siding
In March, City Council established a fire hardening code,
to enhance building safety against wildfire risks. The
code requires that new construction and certain repair or
replacement projects (like roofs, decks, fencing, and siding)
use fire-resistant materials. Homeowners do not need to
proactively replace these elements to comply with the new
code. The fire hardening code only applies if you are planning
to replace or repair these systems in the future. For more
information, please visit LouisvilleCO.gov/FireHardening.
L SUMMER2025
LOUISVILLE LANTERN
