HUB
Hub Store advertisement from 1952.
In 1930, Elphe Webster purchased 1140 Main. It was then the home of George, herself, and
their son, Darryl (1923-2011). Darryl Webster married Elsie Anderson in the 1940s. George
Webster died in 1945. Local directories show that Elphe continued to work at the Hub Store.
Starting in the late 1940s, and after Darryl's service in World War II, Darryl and Elsie Webster
began to live with Elphe at 1140 Main. The 1948 Assessor Card for 1140 Main shows that it had
not yet been subdivided. The card mentioned the presence of a brick garage, size 14 x 20, in the
back yard. Below is a photo of Elphe Webster and her son, Darryl, from a video taken during
during World War II.
