Joseph Torrez and Natividad Alamillo Ownership, 1920-1926
The Massonis sold the property in 1920 to Joseph Torrez for $350. At the same time, Joseph Torrez also
purchased the neighboring lots 43 & 44 in a separate transaction. Not much is known about Joseph
Torrez other than what is found in Boulder County directories. In 1921, Joseph Torise is shown living at
729 Jefferson which could be an early house number for 1234 Jefferson. In 1921, Joseph Torrez transfers
ownership of the property at 1234 Jefferson to Natividad Alamillo. It is unclear if there is a family
relationship with her, however Natividad remains as the property owner until 1926. Jose Torez is listed in
a 1923 directory as a coal miner and living with his wife Lucy at 733 Jefferson, which may also be another
house numbering variation for 1234 Jefferson. Natividad Alamillo is not found in any Louisville
directories from this time period.
Lerma Family Ownership, 1926-1957
In 1926, Natividad Alamillo sold lots 45 & 46 to Sostenes Lerma (1862-1953) and Reynalda Lovato
Campillo Lerma (1885-1936) for $400. According to the 1930 census, Sostenes Lerma immigrated to the
U.S. from Mexico in 1910 at the age of 37. Reynalda Lovato was born in New Mexico and later lived in Ft.
Collins where she had a son, Isabel Campillo (1908-1992), from a previous marriage to Margreto
Campillo. While in Louisville, Sostenes and Isabel worked as laborers on a sugar beet farm. The Lermas
also had another son, Rosalio, and daughter, Roserna. Throughout the 1930s, the Lermas are listed at
various addresses on Jefferson including 713 Jefferson, 722 Jefferson, 723 Jefferson, and 733 Jefferson
until Reynalda's death in 1936. It is likely that 722, 723, and 733 Jefferson are additional address
variations for 1234 Jefferson.
In 1935, the Louisville Times reported the arrest of Isabel Campillo along with Frank Eader for looting a
Louisville grocery store. It is unclear how long Isabel was in prison, but by 1940, he was working at the
Morrison Mine in Erie before enlisting for the draft in 1940.
3 GIVEN J A 1 J,
OR PEN TERMS
Threw 1)ersctll i wirr' i.;iv4'r1 la]]
,I' E,I tirlrl [i'1'IiSw %vht.t, LLI S`aig,ws[ 17l
Rim.141c.N- court Friday 13c•-
fl,re Judge C. However, the Longmont Times -Call reported the murder of Rosalio Lerma in 1940
in a bar fight shooting between Rosalio and Ralph Bracamontez in Erie. Rosalio Lerma had married Lucy
