Arts Advisory Board
Agenda
September 3, 2025
c. We'll return to this with more info on when positions open later
9. Planning for 2026 — JR/Iris
a. Board Member Recruitment
b. Sponsorship Acquisition
i. Big topic for next meeting
ii. Just as important as volunteering at events
iii. JR: can the city council just give us $3000 for a fifth summer
concert, that's all we're asking for
c. Assigning Board Coordinators to Annual Events
i. Events calendar already pretty set for 2026
ii. We can plan ahead better in terms of signing up for
volunteering - and every person on the board can choose
the projects/events they want to contribute to and sign up to
be the lead
iii. Not a requirement that every board member lead
something/that every event have a leader
iv. JR: let's also review the signups at each meeting to make
sure everyone can still uphold their commitments
v. Sarah: maybe also start coordinating with other boards more
10.Items for October meeting agenda (items not on September agenda)
a. Band/musician ideas for 2026 Summer Concerts (JR suggested a
cover band) and World Music Series (launching in January, coming
up soon! We don't want to repeat musicians, it would also be great
to highlight different parts of the world)
b. Roger: tie in to Lunar New Year? (and could we get a dragon)
c. Think ahead: Any changes we might want to make to the art grants
process?
11. Share community cultural events
a. September 20: Japanese Classical Music concert at Arts Center
b. October 4th: Behind and Beyond Bars
12. Adjourn
