BRaD
Meeting Summary
April 4, 2011
Scott Reichenberg, CTC, said the CTC Metro District is open to funding part of the cost for
constructing the trail connection, but needs to have more information as to when funding would be
needed and when the City is able to fund the remaining budget for the project. Michael Menaker
commented the trail connection seems very expensive and wondered if offering a shuttle to CTC
employees would be less-expensive than building a trail to connect CTC with downtown. Scott
thought it might be a good idea to suggest a shuttle be offered as a pilot program through the CTC
Owners Association. Bonnie noted that Raven Transportation in downtown Louisville might be
able to provide an estimate for costs to run a shuttle from the CTC to downtown and suggested
someone contact Raven.
Bob Muckle reminded everyone the Open Space Advisory Board has supported this trail
connection in the past, Shelley from the Chamber also verbally stated the Chamber’s support and
BRaD membership fully supported the trail connection by offering a motion to support and
everyone being was all in favor.
STREET FAIRE UPDATE – Chris Pritchard
The Louisville Downtown Street Faire is officially scheduled for 9 Fridays during the summer from
thstth
June 10
through August 12. There will not be a Street Faire on Friday, July 1, due to the 4 of
July holiday weekend. Chris Pritchard listed all the groups scheduled to perform. The DBA is
looking for volunteers to work the Friday night events and to let Chris know if you’re interested in
volunteering.
Ron Sackett said merchants in Centennial Valley also would like to have a street faire and/or be
involved with the downtown street faire. Chris encouraged merchants in Centennial Valley to
become a sponsor for the downtown event. Bonnie noted that the Centennial Valley Merchants
Association has formed 2 committees; Communications Committee and Events Committee. The
th
Events Committee is planning on an event the afternoon of 4
of July.
Michael Menaker encouraged the non-restaurant Centennial Valley merchants offer some of their
th
parking lot(s) for private parking during the City’s 4 of July event at the golf course.
Bob Muckle suggested hotels in Louisville offer shuttles from establishments to the fireworks.
METRO DENVER ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION – Laura Brandt, Manager,
presented:
Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation is an affiliate of the Denver Chamber of
Commerce and privately funded and works with communities state-wide providing properties to
prospects. Laura Brandt presented a summary of the Metro Denver Economic Development
Corporation Prospect Activity Report from 2003 to end of 2010. Through this time period, there
have been a total of 771 prospects with 125 that are still active; 43% are in the energy industry.
Louisville does a good job of submitting properties. Louisville landed two of the big ones;
ConocoPhillips and Vestas.
Laura went over summary data from her Activity Report and then opened it up for a Q&A.
