Horticulture & Forestry <br />Advisory Board <br />Minutes <br />Thursday, April 7, 2011 <br />Library Meeting Room <br />951 Spruce Street <br />7:00 <br />PM <br /> Call to Order—Chair Mike Frontczak called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm. <br />I. <br /> Roll Call—Board members present: Shelly Alm, Mike Frontczak, Kimberly <br />II. <br />Heestand, Meredith Preston-Eddy, Matt Tepe, Ellen Toon. Board member absent: <br />Theresa Rounds. Staff member present: Dean Johnson. <br /> Approval of Agenda—The agenda was approved by all members. <br />III. <br /> Approval of Minutes—The minutes from the March 3, 2011 meeting were <br />IV. <br />approved. <br /> Public Comments on Items Not on the Agenda—No public present. Dean and <br />V. <br />Mike reported on the City Council meeting they attended on April 5: The Arbor Day <br />proclamation was read by Mayor Sisk; and Mike and Dean commented that trees for the <br />Arbor Day planting were purchased with grant money. Also Dean announced the <br />HFAB-sponsored Library talks, including Carol O’Meara’s talk which was in progress at <br />the time. <br /> Update on Takoda/Steel Ranch development—Dean presented a drawing of the <br />VI. <br />development which included streets, parks, and open space. He discussed the two <br />pocket parks, Takoda Park and Cowboy Park, and the Bullhead Gulch Open Space, all <br />of which will be installed during phase 1, possibly within a year from now. All will be <br />connected by a trail system, which will also link to nearby trails. Plans are nearing the <br />construction drawing phase—Dean will notify HFAB when the plans are available for <br />review. <br /> Study Session with City Council on Tuesday, May 24 (time tba)—Mike will make <br />VII. <br />an outline of topics to be presented to Council for review and/or discussion: Tree <br />preservation guidelines; electrical upgrades to Arboretum irrigation system; landscape <br />improvements to pergola and possibility of renting it for events; pedestrian plan; and <br />Library talks. <br />City of Louisville <br />Parks & Recreation Department <br />749 Main Street Louisville CO 80027 <br />303.335.4735 (phone) 303.335.4738 (fax) www.louisvilleco.gov <br /> <br />
