Horticulture & Forestry <br />Advisory Board <br />Minutes <br />Thursday, March 3, 2011 <br />Library Meeting Room <br />951 Spruce Street <br />7:00 <br />PM <br /> Call to Order—Theresa Rounds called the meeting to order at 7:10 pm. <br />I. <br /> Roll Call—Board members present: Shelly Alm, Kimberly Heestand, Meredith <br />II. <br />Preston-Eddy, Theresa Rounds, Matt Tepe, Ellen Toon. Board member absent: Mike <br />Frontczak. Staff member present: Chris Lichty. City Council member present: Dave <br />Clabots. Guest: Kathy Kron, Parks and Recreation Project Manager. <br /> Approval of Agenda—The agenda was approved by all members. <br />III. <br /> Approval of Minutes—The minutes from the February 3, 2011 meeting were <br />IV. <br />approved. <br /> Public Comments on Items Not on the Agenda—None. <br />V. <br /> Arboretum pergola landscape concept design review—Kathy presented five <br />VI. <br />drawings of concept designs for review and comment by the board. The current budget <br />amount available for landscape improvements is $14,000. Members commented on <br />various features such as flagstone pavers, seating options, pathways, entry points, view <br />opportunities, and functionality for various events. Kathy will present modified design <br />concepts at the April HFAB meeting. <br /> Landscape review of North End—Suggestions were made and noted by Chris and <br />VII. <br />Kathy regarding substituting less-frequently used tree and shrub varieties, eg Hot Wings <br />Maple, Ninebark, and Japanese Tree Lilac. <br /> Library talks—Email announcement of all three talks will go out to email lists <br />VIII. <br />tomorrow.
