Open Space Advisory Board
Minutes
DATE
"adopt-an-open-space" acknowledgement on signage (more on this
below)
. Project Status:
o City is taking delivery of 600 tons of new crusher fines for Coal
Creek Trail
o Reseeding to continue in spring
o Davidson Mesa off-leash area is now fully enclosed, and other
fencing work is ongoing near the trailhead

Board Updates

. After a brief discussion, the Board approves a motion regarding OSAB
meeting agenda posting and schedule (see motion above)
. Adopt-an-OpenSpace issue: what are appropriate and inappropriate levels
of "visibility" for sponsors of Louisville O.S.? The question of corporate
sponsorship was discussed, and how best to acknowledge potentially
valuable support of the program. OSAB members generally expressed
some reservations about too much visibility of corporate logos on open
space lands. Possible workable solutions include "generic" text
acknowledgement on O.S. signage; sponsorship plaques or logos posted
in a central location (e.g., on a wall at Recreation Center or Town Hall).

Tadoka Annexation

Jeff Moline provided a brief overview of the Tadoka and surrounding properties in
N.E. Louisville. The developer, Rick _(?) presented some preliminary design
ideas for the property. OSAB discussed trail alignments, other desirable open
space / park dedication sites. Trail alignment across the railroad tracks and
south to South boulder Road were discussed. Linkages west across the railroad
tracks into the Centennial neighborhood, south to So. Boulder road and
downtown Louisville, and east into the new North End development are all
important considerations.

Sinqle Track Trails on Open Space

Davis Haberkorn from Monarch High School asked the OSAB to consider the
impacts of replacing singletrack trails, which are desirable for mountain biking,
with enlarged/improved crusher fine trails (e.g., Davidson Mesa loop). Davis
would like to see one or more dedicated areas for singletrack trails to be
developed and maintained. He notes that increasingly, riders must drive or ride
outside of Louisville for this type of trail. Davis suggests that one candidate for a
permanent trail might be the cyclo-cross trail around the rec center and detention
pond. While OSAB staff are sympathetic to the desirability of singletrack trails,
