A few years ago, I became aware of her in the course of helping a Museum visitor with a
question, and I researchedmore about her in the course ofstoring donatedissues of the
Louisville Timesthat she worked on. James Smith).
Museum volunteer Kate Gerard represented the Museum at the ANFRM VolunteerGroup
meeting at the Arvada Center onApril 18, 2011.
th
Beth Barrett gave a wonderfultalk on historic theaters of Colorado at the Library on May 4.
A secondprogramis being presentedin Louisville in recognition of National Preservation Month
rd
in May. On Monday, May 23,at 7 PM at the Library, the program “Energy Upgrades to Historic
Buildings” will show audience members how to improve energy performanceandcomfort
without destroying the character of a historic home or business.
In the last month at the Museum, I provided a great deal of assistance to people who are
researching the histories ofLouisville houses, local railroad history, and local coal mines.
th
The next brown bagdiscussion about local historyis scheduled for Tuesday, June 7at noon at
the Library with the topic “Louisville Celebrations: Holidays, Parades, and Festivals.”
th
Carol Taylor’s column in the Boulder Daily Cameraon Sunday, May 9focused on the visit by
Mother Jones to Louisville in 1903.
th
On May 20, I will be attending the Spring 2011 meeting of the Society ofRocky Mountain
Archivists.
