. - CITY OF LOUISVILLE RESOLUTION NO. 19 SERIES 1980 WHEREAS, in November, 1976, the citizens of the State of Colorado, by popular vote, did approve of a State Lottery Program, and WHEREAS, in August, 1978, the Supreme Court of the State of Colorado declared the question to be unconstitutional, that decision being based upon constitutional issues, and WHEREAS, the State Legislature has approved, by a two-thirds majority, that the State Lottery question be placed, again, on the general ballot for voter approval as a consti- tutional amendment at the general election to be held on Novem- ber 4, 1980, and WHEREAS, the State Legislature has approved that the net proceeds of such a State Lottery Program would be appro- priated to the State Conservation Trust Fund, and WHEREAS, the State Legislature has further approved that the State Conservation Trust Fund would be apportioned to County and Municipal government jurisdictions for the purpose of assisting park and recreation facility acquisition and development programs, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Louisville City Council supports the State Lottery Program and encourages the citizens of the community and of the State to again approve of the State Lottery Program, as the program will be of direct benefit to the State, as well as local jurisdictions through benefits that are derived directly by increases in park, recreation and leisure time facilities.
