Open Space Advisory Board
Minutes
May 11, 2011
■ Mr. Grinbergs has been observing some of the wildlife and
off -lease dog interactions. He has taken some photographs
of the offenses. He has noticed that lack of enforcement is
negatively impacting the wildlife in the area.
• He recognizes that there are difficulties in legal
enforcement.
■ He has brought a number of suggestions/ideas to the table.
See addendum.
■ He points out that there is probably limited awareness about
the wildlife, especially the goslings in the area.
0 Caryn Greef, 161 S. Raintree Lane
■ Has asked people to put dogs on leash, and many people
have not been receptive.
■ Estimates that there is about 60-70% off leash use.
■ She also indicates that it is a problem when the code
enforcement officers drive off of designated trails. She feels
that this type of activity will just compound some of the social
trail difficulties already occurring in the open space.
■ Ms. Greef is member of the Louisville Open Space and
Social Trails, an advocate group for all of the users of the
Louisville Open Space Trails. Email contact:
losst@rocketmail.com
• LOSST would prefer that the Warembourg and
Daughenbaugh open space properties are left as -is,
including the existence of social trails.
o OSAB will again request Code Enforcement to attempt more
enforcement.
■ In the past, OSAB has asked for targeted enforcement at
specific, high use times. OSAB will again make that request.
VI. Staff Updates
1. Volunteer Appreciation Dinner- Happened on April 21, 2011.
2.
