HistoricalCommission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />April 20, 2011 <br />Louisville Public Library Meeting Room <br />951 Spruce Street <br />6:30 p.m. <br />I.Call to Order <br />: Commission Chair Dan Mellish called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. <br />II.Roll Call: <br />Commission Members Present <br />:Dan Mellish,Dave Ferguson,Pat Seader, Diane Marino, <br />Lynn Koglin, Sally Burlingame, Anne Robinson, Brian Chamberlin,Sean Moynihan,Jennifer <br />Strand, Don Ross <br />Commission Members Absent: <br />Dustin Sagrillo <br />City Representatives Present: <br />Beth Barrett, Directory of Library & Museum Services <br />Bridget Bacon, Museum Coordinator <br />Memberof the Public Present: <br />Mary Kay Knorr <br />III.Approval of Agenda: <br />Members approved the agenda. <br />IV.Public Commentson Items Not on the Agenda: <br />Mary KayKnorr stated that she cameto the meetingto ask for the Commission’s support for <br />the City to use Louisville’s founding dateof 1878 rather than its incorporation date of 1882for a <br />gateway sign to Louisvilleand for stationary and business cards.Mary Kay pointed out that <br />most towns in Coloradocelebrate their founding date rather than their incorporation date and <br />th <br />alsothat at the 100anniversary of the founding in August of 1978, the City was named the <br />th <br />honorary capital of Colorado, but no such recognition came on the 100anniversary of the <br />incorporation. Beth Barrett statedthat she had new information, which was that the City has <br />decided to usethe founding date of 1878. Therefore, Mary Kay no longer needed the <br />Commission’s support and instead provided this information. <br />V.Meeting as Advisory Board for the City of Louisville <br />Approval of February2011 Meeting Minutes: <br />A.The minutes were approved.There were <br />no minutes for the March meeting due to failure to havea quorum. <br />Report from the Director of Library and Museum Services: <br />B.Beth reported that: <br />1.Plans are moving forward with the“On the Same Page”book reading program. <br />The selected bookis an evocative book, one that has alot to do with local history. <br />It touches on economic hard times and environmental change as well as our <br />region.The mayors ofLafayette, Louisville, andSuperior will announce the choice <br />at a press conference in June. Most of the activities will be in September and <br />October,allowing for residents to read the book during the summer.
