Open Space Advisory Board
Minutes
June 8, 2011
Tom responded that we have considered adding
language to encompass things like trail corridors,
which do not exactly fit into open space, but are
zoned open space.
Joe explained zoning and classification are
o
separate issues. The management required by
a certain classification is primarily dealt with by
the management plan.
Ms. Greef did an off-leash count: She says she saw 23 total
dogs, and 2 were off leash.
Frank Sinkalee, 172 S. Raintree Lane
o
Frequent user of the trail. He states that he appreciates the
open space, and that he almost never sees dogs off leash.
Susan Smith, 902 Grove Dr.
o
She wished to bring attention to the fact that one of the trails
at Davidson Mesa is crusher fines along the off-leash area,
but then it dead ends when it turns west and becomes an
unimproved, rocky trail. She expressed that she would like
to see that trail improved and upgraded.
Ann Mills, 294 W. Sycamore Lane
o
She would like to bring attention to the problem of traffic in
Warembourg Open Space. She reports seeing city vehicles,
Code enforcement vehicles, and police cars driving through
that open space.
Joe responded that the police have a prioritization
because they are the enforcement arm on all of the
city properties. The police do try to be sensitive,
when possible.
Spencer pointed out that as public awareness of rules
and regulations increases, the need for enforcement
activity decreases.
Ms. Mills also noted that the vehicles/carts drive too fast
through the open space.
Alfie Pena, 724 W. Raintree Court
o
Mr. Pena suggested putting code enforcement on bicycles.
Joe pointed out that the code enforcement covers all
code enforcement throughout the entire city.
VI. Staff Updates
Ember:
o
Working on a rough draft to address management issues at
Harney-Lastoka in order to balance the management
between the 3 owners. Draft will be coming to OSAB for
review once completed.
