Where daily maximum limitations are expressed in terms of a concentration. <br />the daily dischar2e is the arithmletic avera2e measurement of the pollutant concentration <br />derived from all measurements taken that day. <br />Direct discharge means the discharge of treated or untreated wastewater directly to the <br />waters of the state. <br />Domestic or sanitary wastes means liquid wastes (a) from the noncommercial <br />preparation, cooking and handling of food, or (b) containing only human excrement and similar <br />matter from the sanitary conveniences of dwellings, commercial buildings, industrial facilities, <br />and institutions or combination thereof. <br />Existing user means an industrial user which is in operation at the time of promulgation <br />of categorical pretreatment standards. <br />Fats, oil or grease (FOG) means any hydrocarbons, fatty acids, soaps, fats, waxes, oils <br />and any other material that is extracted by freon solvent, as specified in 40 CFR 136.3. <br />Garbage means solid wastes from domestic and commercial preparation, cooking and <br />dispensing of food and from handling, storage and sale of produce. "Properly ground garbage" <br />shall mean the wastes from the preparation, cooking and dispensing of foods that have been <br />ground to such a degree that all particles will be carried freely under the flow conditions <br />normally prevailing in public sewers, with no particles greater than one-half inch in any <br />dimension. <br />Grab sample means a sample which is taken from a waste stream on a one-time basis <br />with no regard to the flow in the waste stream and without consideration of time. The time it <br />takes to collect this sample shall not exceed 15 minutes. <br />Harmful wastes means any solid, liquid, or gaseous substances which would violate the <br />prohibitions contained in this chapter. <br />Hazardous waste means any waste containing substances or characteristics listed as such <br />under Code of Federal Regulations, title 40, section 261. <br />Holding tank waste means any waste from holding tanks such as vessels, chemical toilets, <br />campers, trailers, septic tanks, and vacuum-pump tank trucks. <br />Immediately means within 24 hours. <br />Indirect discharge means the discharge or the introduction of nondomcstic pollutants <br />from any non-domestic source regulated under Section 307(b), (c) or (d) of the Act, (33 USC ~ <br />1317), into the POTW (including holding tank 'Naste discharged into the system). <br />Industrial user or user means a source of indirect discharge v/hich contains nondomestic <br />'Nastcwater.
