Historic Preservation Commission
Meeting Minutes
June 20, 2011
Page 5of 6
Update/Discussion/Action –Grant Program –Maximum allowances
Includes a Grant Spreadsheet of recent grant expenditures
Roundtable on lessons learned in the past year of the landmark program
Russ reviewed the request from the City Manager and the Mayor regarding how to prioritize
how the monies should be allocated and how to invest the monies available for the Grant
Program fund.
Koertje asked about an on-call engineer.
Russ stated an on-call structural engineer has been identified but no formal action has
been taken to proceed. Before action is taken the HPC needs to decide how to manage
their expectations.
Russ asked if the HPC wants to have a small group to make a recommendation to this
board or have a study session of the entire HPC.
Stewart stated no matter what format is used the preparation for the topic is important.
Koertje stated a special meeting to discuss this item would be better than trying to add it to
the regular meeting agenda.
Poppitz asked if thereis any way for Louisville to consult with Boulder County for
information on some of their specific programs.
Russ asked if they had a specific date recommendation or how do they want to proceed.
th
Stewart suggested sometime after the July 18meeting.
Russ asked about an August or September special meeting.
Koertje suggesteda separate meeting on aSaturday meeting.
Russ does not support a Saturday meeting for the Planning Staff.
st
Stewart stated an earlier evening meeting the 1week of August at 6:00 PM.
Russ stated staff will review staff scheduled and propose some early August dates.
Update/Discussion/Action –Austin Niehoff HSA
Stewart asked for staff information.
Russ stated a structure engineer had been working with the Public Works Department.
He does not know the end result of the discussion with McCartney and the Public Works
department regarding this project.
Stewart suggested an application to the state might enable the owner to obtain a $10-15
K grant. Then, there might be additional funds available from the state for other projects
at the site. The only requirement would be for the owner to agree to the application.
Russ stated the only questions we would want to understand further would be what are
the restrictions come with the grant.
Stewart stated they must meet the state guidelines and format.
