Landscape Contract Specifications-Update <br />In a conversation with Scott regarding his concerns about micromanaging <br />contractors' decisions, Theresa emphasized that the Board's comments and <br />suggestions are not meant to micromanage, but to foster improvement. <br />Before the contract goes out to bid in February, Scott would like to continue <br />the discussion; and HFAIB would like to review the final draft. <br />VII. Arboretum <br />Regarding establishment of 501 (c) (3) non-profit, Theresa reiterated that <br />Mayor Sisk does not want to combine 501 c's for the Arboretum and Open <br />Space Board. <br />Chris is still working on street and entrance signage for the Arboretum. <br />In the past, Susan has written a letter to CSU regarding senior class design <br />projects. She has offered to draft a new letter of appreciation to CSU's school <br />president, Penley, the DE~an of Agricultural Sciences, Courtney Lockwood, <br />Elizabeth Heldmann, and others in related positions, to be signed by Mayor <br />Sisk and the Chair of HFAB <br />VIII. HFAB meeting scheldule <br />Discussion of possible bimonthly or quarterly meeting schedule instead of <br />monthly meetings. Final decision by all board members present is to continue <br />for 2007 the current schedule of monthly meetings on the first Thursday of the <br />month at 6:30 pm. <br />IX. Development of HFAB"s website and other public education projects <br />Chris will check on possible installation of a hit counter to track public use of <br />the site. <br />Fred suggested inviting a Library board member to a future HFAB meeting to <br />discuss the possible establishment of a special gardening section on library <br />shelves. <br />Susan suggested bringing in speakers for a City-sponsored free lecture series <br />about gardening and environmental issues. Funds for the Arboretum non- <br />profit could be raised from community donors and corporate sponsors of the <br />series. By raising awarHness of the Arboretum, the lectures may also <br />provide a volunteer base for occasional Arboretum and other related cleanup <br />and maintenance projects. <br />X. Arboretum Tree I.D. and Xeric Demonstration Garden Plant I.D. <br />Brochure - No update from Tim. Chris suggested posting current information <br />on the website until the Board is able to produce a printed brochure. <br />XI. The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 pm. <br />
