City Council
Study Session Summary
June 14, 2011
Page 3of 5
For 2011, 85% of thememberships to the historical museum have been
paid.
Research has been made easier by the Boulder County Assessor cards
courtesy of the Carnegie Museum in Boulder.
4 publications of the Louisville Historian.
Participated in City events such as the Labor Day Parade, Parade of
Lights and Taste of Louisville Open House.
Library Exhibits.
Pioneer Award presented to Lawrence Enriettowho made many
contributions to the City of Louisville.
Fire Detection System installed at the museum.
Present Programs and Projects
Oral history project –47 interviews conducted with video camera and one
narrator.
Historical Walking Tours –incredibly well received; averaged 30
participants. Moving towards doing again next year.
Brown Bag Presentations on topics such as WWII, Colorado’s historic
theaters, and energy upgrades to historic buildings.
Future Programs –Museum celebrating 25 years –Where will the next 25
years take us?Future Goals:
Opening museum more hours/more hours for staff.
With more staff hours, cataloging artifacts, expand online collections.
Add historical looking building onto the vacant lot adjacent to the museum
thatcould be used for storage, ADA accessible restrooms, meeting room.
Due to Jacoe Store basement flooding, itemswere moved to the Jordinelli
House for storage.Plan is to fix the flooding issue at the Jacoe Store,
move items out of the Jordinelli House and open the Jordinelli House to
the public.
Hold the Parade of Homes once again during the holidays.
More fundraising.
Mayor Sisk commented how wonderful the museum is and felt the use of the
Jordinelli House for storage at this time was horrible and the water issues need
to be addressed at the Jacoe Store. In terms of the budget and providing more
for the museum, the Mayor said it is premature to begin using the money from
the Use Taxuntil the City knows how much revenue has been collectedand that
won’t happen until the end of the year. It’s a heavy task for staff to make
recommendations on where money gets allocated and where it gets taken away.
Council member Dalton wanted to know if the museum hours were increased
how wouldthe expanded hours be used and what more do we get out of it?
Mayor Pro Tem Marsella would like to see the Museum opened every Saturday.
