<br />Defeated by a vote of 3-4 on May 18, 2004 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1448 <br />SERIES 2004 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE LOUISVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE TO REQUIRE <br />HOTEL REGISTRATION AND RETENTION OF REGISTRATION RECORDS. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the Louisville Home Rule Charter and state law, including but <br />not limited to C.R.S. S31-15-401 et seq., the City is authorized to pass and enforce all necessary <br />police power ordinances; and to make regulations which may be necessary for the promotion of <br />the public health, safety and general welfare; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to such authority and for such purposes, the City Council desires <br />to require hotel registration and retention of registration records for lodging establishments in the <br />City. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: <br /> <br />Section 1. The Louisville Municipal Code is hereby amended by the addition of a <br />new Chapter 5.06 to read as follows: <br /> <br />Chapter 5.06 <br /> <br />HOTEL REGISTRATION AND RETENTION REQUIREMENTS <br /> <br />Sec. 5.06.010 Hotel registration and retention requirements. <br />Sec. 5.06.020 Violation; penalty. <br /> <br />Sec. 5.06.010 Hotel registration and retention requirements. <br /> <br />A. Every person who controls or operates a hotel, motel, <br />boardinghouse, roominghouse, guesthouse, apartment hotel, lodging house, motor <br />hotel, extended stay lodging facility, or similar establishment offering rental <br />accommodations shall keep and maintain a register of guests which shall include <br />the tme name and address of each guest, the room number occupied by such guest <br />and the beginning and end dates of occupancy for each guest. The registering <br />guest shall verify his or her true name at the time of registration by presenting <br />valid identification, i.e. driver's license, non-driver's state issued identification <br />card, government identification, military identification or passport. No guest shall <br />be allowed to register without presenting valid identification. If the guest is <br />traveling in a motor vehicle, the license number and owner of such motor vehicle <br />shall also be recorded in the register. <br /> <br />B. Every person who controls or operates an establishment listed in <br />subsection A of this section shall also retain the register of guests, including all <br />information required under subsection A of this section, for three years and open <br /> <br />1 <br />
