Louisville Cultural Council
Meeting Minutes
DATE

Other items - Julie reminded members to give event updates to her. Maryan
announced the July 28 Jazz Showcase. Difficulties with copy service vendors
were discussed and it was decided to look into options. Kathy Martin mentioned
that the Rec Center would have a new copier soon and might be able to produce
some items for LCC. She also reported that she did a Spring mailing to some 800
people. Julie said that she also had sent e-mail newsletters to approximately 470
people. Remember to use evaluations at events as well as sign- up sheets; give
e-mail address lists to Julie and postal mail addresses to Kathy Martin. Other
promotional ideas were discussed briefly; e.g., t-shirts, hats, etc.

Wendy reported that Kathy Pollicita had e-mailed her regarding potential
sponsorships and the possibility of benefiting from food sales at the Summer
Concert Series. Discussion revealed there may be city licensing requirements
and costs that prove discouraging for food vendors. It was determined that
further exploration may be necessary; e.g., some potential vendors may already
be licensed for outdoor food sales. Discussion also led toward agreement that
perhaps all the concerts in the park should be viewed as fundraising
opportunities and we should perhaps explore charging modest amounts or
suggesting donation amounts for some activities that have been free of charge.

Attention turned toward development of a comprehensive arts plan for Louisville.
Don noted how important a similar effort has been in Boulder and stressed that it
would be important to ensure the process is inclusive and to engage a third-party
facilitator. Members agreed to the suggestion that this be part of brainstorming at
the next meeting and become a standing agenda item.

Maryan mentioned need for help with the May 18 Swing Dance event. Don raised
the possibility of events related to Mexican Independence Day and there was a
brief discussion.

Agenda items for the next LCC meeting are due to Wendy by May 9.
Attachments for agenda items are due to Kathy Martin or Wendy by May 9.

Adjourn - The meeting was adjourned at 9:07 PM

Minutes submitted by Jim Pollicita
