She
added that the City has taken the lead in local land marking and demolish in is site
would be inconsistent with the City's landmarking of other buildings.

Childs noted that as a full review of alternatives has not been completed the bu ng
should be saved.

McMenamin noted no strong need to demolish the building right now
could save the demolition costs and use that for rehabilitation.

the City

Muckle added that the need for a maintenance building
to demolition of the 1932 building should be 100kE!d at before
irreplaceable building.

pelling but alternatives
ring down an

Action
Muckle made a motion to place a 180-d
finding that the site is eligible for localla
social significance as a "Site of historic
it "Exemplifies the cultural, political, econ

tay on demolition request based on the
rking under Chapter 15.16.050 for its
t had an effect upon society" and that
r social heritage of the community."

Lewis seconded the motion.

lition permit request for 180 days to September 18,

Motion passed 7-0 to stay the
2007.

Muth will bring back update on the building at the May Commission meeting.

Harney-Lastoka Open Space - Location/Use of Ms. Downer's Cabins
Muth infor Commission that the direction she has received is to look only at
moving th to the Lastoka property for use as the tool sheds in the Community
Gardens, no terpretive sites. The major factors in that decision were the amount of
money the City s already committed to the preservation of the existing Lastoka
buildings (approximately $85,000), concerns over creating new historical facilities that
would require ongoing funding, and the fact that this would be a significant change to the
already adopted management plan for the parcel.

Jean Morgan expressed her desire to continue to request the cabins be moved as
interpretive sites and presented a letter of support from the Lafayette Historical Society.
She added the new idea that the cabins be placed in the Community Gardens as
interpretive sites.

Muckle expressed her disappointment in this direction to staff.
