<br />ORDINANCE NO. 1262 <br />SERIES 1997 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A PEDESTRIAN MALL ON PORTIONS OF SPRUCE <br />STREET AND FRONT STREET IN OLD TOWN LOUISVILLE <br /> <br />WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 24 and Resolution No. 30, Series <br />1997, the City Council of the City of Louisville declared its <br />intent and determined to establish a pedestrian mall on one block <br />of Spruce Street and portions of Front Street in Old Town <br />Louisville; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the pedestrian mall to be established is particularly <br />described below and is depicted on the map on file in the office of <br />the City Clerk, a copy of which is attached hereto; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has provided notice and held a <br />public hearing relative to the establishment of the pedestrian <br />mall, as required by the Public Mall Act of 1970; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, by this Ordinance, the City Council desires to <br />finally establish the pedestrian mall. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council determines and declares that <br />there is hereby established a pedestrian mall in Old Town <br />Louisville, which shall consist of the following portions of <br />Louisville municipal streets: <br /> <br />That one block of Spruce Street lying east of Front Street and <br />west of the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway Company <br />right-of-way; and approximately the easternmost twenty feet of <br />Front Street beginning at a point approximately 20 feet south <br />of the south right-of-way line of Spruce Street and extending <br />approximately 240 north. <br /> <br />Section 2. With the exception of public, emergency, and <br />utility vehicles, vehicular traffic is and shall be prohibited upon <br />the pedestrian mall established pursuant to Section 1. This <br />prohibition shall become effective at such time as the area <br />encompassing the pedestrian mall is improved and closed to <br />vehicular traffic in accordance with the police powers and other <br />rights and powers of the Cit)r relating to traffic control and the <br />use of municipal streets. Front Street and the north-south alley <br />one block east of Front Street shall remain open to two-way <br />vehicular traffic. <br /> <br />1 <br />
