HISTORICAL BACKGROUND: <br />Information from Historian Bridget Bacon <br />The house was built in 1905 as a single family residence. The house was primarily <br />owned by 2 families; Charles and Christina Zarini (1907 to 1921) and Joseph and Rose <br />Ross (1921 to 1998). The current owner purchased the house in 1998. <br />LANDMARK APPROVAL: <br />On October 19, 2010 the City Council approved the landmark application for 501 South <br />Street, by a vote of 7-0. <br />REQUEST: <br />The applicant, Barbara Butterworth, is requesting the approval of a Preservation and <br />Restoration Grant to allow for the reconstruction of the front porch over the eastern <br />entrance. This portion of the house has had drainage problems in the past. The <br />applicant recently received a grant to repair damages incurred from the drainage issues. <br />Therefore it is important to insure the roof provides positive drainage. <br />The applicant has receive a bid from the contractor who did the drainage repair work. <br />The invoice is attached for your review.
