Horticultural & Forestry Advisory Board
Agenda
DATE
Website, Channel 8, social networking—Meredyth reviewed her April 19, 2011
IX.
memorandum regarding rules and requirements for a City-sponsored social media page
(including Facebook, Twitter, Flicker, etc.) She commented that some emerging issues
for governments involved in social networking concern record-keeping, open records
regulations, and maintenance of sites. It was suggested that HFAB set up a Facebook
page for Friends of the Arboretum (which would not be subject to open government
rules) in order to announce events, solicit donations, and provide educational
information.
Suggestions regarding utilization of Channel 8: Post event announcements and/or links
to HFAB web page; produce a video of an informational walk through the Arboretum;
and tape presentations (such as Carol O’Meara’s talks) which can be put into a queue
to be broadcast for 4 – 6 weeks.
Per Meredyth, the City newsletter can be used for HFAB information/announcements on
a space-available basis. Notices must be submitted at least five weeks in advance, and
the newsletter is currently published three times a year.
Median plantings—discussion postponed until future meeting.
X.
Discussion Items for Next Meeting—Utilization of social media, especially
XI.
Facebook; median plantings.
Adjourn—The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 pm.
XII.
