Youth Advisory Board
Meeting Minutes
10/1/09
Page 2of 3
Lots of partnerships help with these two goals, such as:
Chamber of Commerce
Downtown Business Association
Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation
VII.Team Building Games

VIII.What is the YAB-What can you expect in the upcoming year
Mandy explained the basic facts. Veteran YAB members shared what they got
out of the YAB-volunteer opportunities, connections within the community
(library, RecreationCenter, City Council, etc.), learning interesting things about
Louisville while going to other board meetings, being incredibly welcomed at
other board’s meetings, and having speakers come to solicit youth opinions
about various issues in Louisville.
IX.Expectations of Board Members and Professional Conduct
Mandy explained expectations of professional behavior at meetings. Being good
listeners. The importance of attending. Not being negative about Louisville, but
finding ways for positive change. Etc.
Frost explained a little bit more about professional conduct while serving on a
board, and why it is important-people will start to recognize you as a member of
the YAB.
Kriska explained a bit about the Open Government regulations for meetings.
X.Discussion of Goals for Upcoming Year including volunteer projects
Kriska gave an overview of volunteer opportunities we have done in the past and
that will likely come up again, such as: Dessert & Story Time With Santa, The
Heat Relief Dinner, the St. Patrick’s Day dinner, the Royal Ball and the
Community Food Share Drive. She encouraged the YAB members tolook for
other opportunities and bring them to the board meetings if interested in helping.
Brooke mentioned working with the Ronald McDonald House in the past, and
said she would gather more information.
Kriska also encouraged the YAB members to think about what sort of goals
and/or focus they would like the board to have for the year. They should be
manageable and practical with the time we are allowed.

XI.Discuss Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary positions (will elect at the Oct.
meeting)
Mandy explained the roles and responsibilities for each position.
