Planning Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />June 9, 2011 <br />Page 5 of 11 <br />Brauneis asked if they would be used all year or seasonally with the fresh <br />produce type agricultural product. <br />Amirfatte confirmed it would be nice to use them year around but for now they <br />are for the seasonal products. <br />Brauneis asked if the units are closable. <br />Amirfatte answered they are. <br />Pritchard inquired if the upholstery shop tenant was planning to stay. <br />Amirfatte shared he had visited with the owner and he is staying and is pleased <br />with the improvements to the building. <br />Pritchard expressed his concern with the available parking for the site. <br />McCartney stated there are currently seven (7) spaces next to the alley and there <br />is additional parking along Elm and Front Streets. The square footage <br />calculations determined the upholstery shop needs one space and the market <br />will need two (2) spaces. Therefore, there are an additional five (5) spaces. <br />Pritchard stated he sees the potential for the site being used year around, <br />especially at holidays, such as Christmas. However, the restrictions of the use of <br />portable heating units would limit or eliminate the possibilities for cold weather <br />uses. <br />Amirfatte told the Commissioners the site is not just organic but it is also green <br />because there is the solar option for heat. <br />Loo asked if each building was planned to have 2-3 colors. <br />Amirfatte confirmed each building will have 2-3 colors, similar to a western town <br />but with the use of international colors. <br />Loo asked staff if the Downtown Design Guidelines had any restrictions <br />regarding color. <br />McCartney stated there are no color guidelines. <br />Brauneis asked if staff is comfortable with the color scheme. <br />McCartney stated yes. <br />Public Comment: <br />None heard. <br />Summary Comments and Request from Staff and/or Applicant <br />No additional comments from either staff or the applicant. <br />Closed Public Hearing – Planning Commission Discussion <br />Sheets stated her concern regarding the long term viability of the structures. The <br />project concept is new but she supports the project. <br />Brauneis stated he does not want the site to become an old west ghost town. <br />Otherwise, he supports the project. <br />
