1.Overview -Joe Stevens stated that there are some basic observations
that Kevin Norby focused on during his visit. First being the irrigation
system and second the trees on the golf course.
a. The current irrigation system is on its last legs. Kevin is working
with a consultant to determine a short term and long term plan for
the irrigation system. As it is now the nuances of repairing an aging
irrigation system may not be effective for the long term. There may
be a real need to replace this irrigation system in the next five
years.
b. The trees are impacting the playability of the golf course
c. Course drainage and bunkers are a work in progress.
Item VII – Update on golf course club house renovation plans and funding –
1. Joe Stevens commented that it is clear that some repairs and
maintenance needs to be done to the current clubhouse. Keeping in mind
that we need funding for an entire renovation and do not have that as of
now.
2. Jeff Van Sambeek has graciously addressed the board’s issues and
completed the Coal Creek Golf Course Clubhouse Improvements
Summary. Thank You!
Item VIII –Status of RFP for golf course hotel – e.g. Fairway Suites -
1. Joe Stevens informed the board that he has received three RFP calls so
far and hopes to have an update at the October meeting.
th
Item IX –6 fairway pond issues and actions -
1. Eric Jensen discussed with the board that hole #6 had a rare form of algae
and the treatment that was used to rid the pond of this algae reduced the
oxygen levels in the pond that resulted in a loss of the fish. Eric stated
that this procedure is generally not harmful and is used to remove the
aquatic weeds in the ponds. The fish will be restocked.
Item X – Significant maintenance activities in September and plans for
October –
1. Eric Jensen updated the board that Coal Creek had just finished the fall
aerification. He explained the aerating method, slicing knives, which was
used is less evasive on the greens and fairways.
2. Coal Creek will be starting the seeding process in the next 7 – 10 days.

··
п®µ ¿²¼ λ½®»¿¬·±² Ü»°¿®¬³»²¬ éìç Ó¿·² ͬ®»»¬ Ô±«·ª·´´»ô ÝÑ èððîé
·
øíðí÷ ííëóìéíë ÚßÈ øíðí÷ ííëóìéíè
www.louisvilleco.gov
п®µ λ½®»¿¬·±² Í»²·±® Í»®ª·½» Ñ°»² Í°¿½» Ú±®»¬®§ Ì®¿·´
Ù±´º
